MINI, a British luxury automobile manufacturer owned by BMW, celebrates the 30th anniversary of the four-seater MINI Cooper Convertible. The automaker introduced an all-new special edition car to celebrate the event. Dubbed the MINI Cooper Convertible Seaside Edition, the top model gains a wide range of distinctive design elements, including the exterior and interior of the cabin. Launching in February 2023, it will be available in either Nanuq White or Caribbean Aqua color options from the exterior, whereas the retractable soft top cover features a black shade.
Speaking of looks, the MINI Cooper Convertible Seaside comes with white body stripes, front bumper graphic and side scuttles with Seaside badging. It runs on 18-inch alloy wheels that feature hubcaps. According to the company, these wheel caps are claimed to come with weights to ensure they stay in the correct position.
In terms of interiors, this special-edition car comes with Carbon Black leather seats, a leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and Beach Sport badging. The passenger side dash of this convertible features a badge reading "30 Years of Convertible." In addition, the MINI Cooper has seaside door sill plates, special floor mats and a key with an iridescent blue wave pattern. That the automaker is capable of opening and closing at speeds of up to 30 kmph.
Powertrain-wise, the MINI Cooper Convertible Seaside Edition is available in Cooper and Cooper S forms. It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that makes 134 hp of peak power. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 8.8 seconds. While the Cooper S comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 176 horsepower from maximum output and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds.
Meanwhile, BMW launched its flagship BMW XM in India. The SUV is the second standalone product of the M brand after the M1, which was launched in 1978 and was priced at Rs 2.60 crore (showroom). In particular, the XM will be the first SUV to come from the M-Class with plug-in hybrid technology.
