Bajaj Auto Ltd’s total sales fell sharply by 70% in May amid Coronavirus crisis

Two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer, Bajaj Auto Ltd’s on Tuesday posted a sharp 70 percent drop in total sales of 1.27,128 units in May as against 4,19,235 units in the same month last year. According to the data, the company's domestic sales fell by 83 percent to 40,074 units last month, compared to 2.35,824 units in May 2019.

On the export front, its numbers for May month decreased by 53 percent to 87,054 units as compared to 1.83,411 units in the same period of last year.rnBajaj Auto Bajaj Autornrnrnrn

Bajaj Auto further said that its total sales of two-wheeler decreased by 69 percent to 1,12,798 units as compared to  3,65,068 units the year-ago month. Domestic two-wheeler sales reached 39,286 units last month, as against 2.05,721 units in May 2019, a decrease of 81%.rnrnrnrn

Overall commercial vehicle sales also declined by 74 percent to 14,330 units last month compared to 54,167 units in the year-ago period, with domestic sales dropping by 97 percent to 788 units as against 30,103 units in May 2019.rn
