Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced sales figures for December 2022 and also annual sales figures for the entire calendar year 2022. The Japanese manufacturer reported sales of 1,60,352 units in 2022, making it the highest-grossing year ever. of the decade for the company.
Toyota reported a 22.6 percent increase in sales compared to fiscal 2021, as the brand sold 130,768 units. However, it should be noted that sales in the first months of 2021 were also affected by the closures caused by the global pandemic. The best year ever for Toyota in India remains 2012, when Toyota sold a staggering 1,72,241 units, and with the launch of a powerful new hybrid SUV and MPV, the auto giant could be well on its way to a year record in 2023.
Speaking about the sales figures, Atul Sood, Associate Vice President of Sales and Strategic Marketing at TKM, said: "2022 was a huge year for TKM, both in terms of new product launches and sales performance. We introduced notable models such as the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross, both models have been highly appreciated by our customers, creating great traction in terms of demand and we are doing our best to meet customer requirements accordingly."
While overall sales for 2022 posted a good figure, Toyota recorded a decline in monthly sales in December 2022. Toyota sold 10,421 units in India in December 2022, down 11.4% on a monthly basis compared to November 2022 and a marginal decrease of 3.8 percent year-on-year.
