MG Motor plans to introduce the MG 4 electric hatchback to the Indian market soon. According to media reports, the company will introduce the MG 4 EV, Air EV and MG Hector facelift at Auto Expo 2023.
Coming to the MG 4 EV, it has already been launched in Europe and rivals the Kia Niro and Volkswagen ID.3 internationally. The MG 4 EV is 4,287mm long, about 36mm shorter than the ZS EV. In addition, the MG 4 EV also has a 120mm longer wheelbase compared to the ZS EV.
Based on SAIC's scalable platform, the MG 4 electric hatchback will be powered by two battery options: 51 kWh and 64 kWh. The former produces 170 horsepower, while the latter produces a peak output of 203 horsepower. You get a single-engine rear-wheel drive setup. The EV comes with a 7 kWh charger and supports fast charging up to 150 kW.
MG claims that the MG 4 EV with its 64 kWh battery offers a WLTP range of 452 km. Feature-wise, the electric hatchback will be equipped with a 7-inch MID, 10.25-inch center infotainment system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and a 360-degree camera. For safety, the MG 4 EV will feature the suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
In terms of exterior appearance, the electric hatchback has LED lighting, a sportier roofline, two-tone wheels, and a body cladding that gives it an SUV look.
The price of the MG 4 EV is not yet known, however, we can expect it to be introduced to the Indian market via the CBU or CKD route. Once launched in India, it will compete with BYD Atto 3, Mahindra XUV400 and Hyundai Kona EV.
