The 2020 Volkswagen Golf Revealed; with 5 Hybrid Powertrain options

The all-new Volkswagen Golf will be manufactured in Wolfsburg where it was first made and will be launching in the market in the month of December 2019. 

The eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf has been unveiled officially and with the new-gen model, the VW has started a hybrid offensive. The new VW Golf will arrive in five hybrid drive versions. Out of these five, three versions will be mild-hybrid versions, and the other two versions will be plug-in hybrid models. This is launched with the intention of reducing emissions and increase the fuel economy. VW has said in a statement that the new drive technologies will help in cutting the consumption of fuel by over 17 percent.

The new  Volkswagen Golf will be loaded with new features that are of the new technology-loaded. The car will feature a near-button-less, digitally-inclined cabin and it will come with a new feature called the Car2X. The Car2X wa
s against any hazards on an anticipatory basis. 

When asked about the new Volkswagen Golf, Mr. Herbert Diess, the Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG said in a statement that, "With over seven generations of VW Golf, the car has successfully impressed more than 35 million customers all over the world. The entire automobile industry is expecting the new eighth-generation Golf to set a new standard." On the other hand, Mr. Ralf Brandstatter, the Chief Operating Officer of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said in a statement that, "This car is completely new. But of course, a Golf always remains a Golf. The underlying concept of the VW Golf will remain timeless. This car has defined our brand over the decades. The Golf has successfully over the year made the new technologies available to the common people everywhere."

In Comparison to the previous-gen model, the new VW Golf's length has been increased slightly by 26 mm to 4,284 mm, while the width of the car has slightly decreased by 10 mm to 1,789 mm. While The wheelbase of the car remains almost identical with a small reduction of approx 1 mm at 2,636 mm. 

The outer look of the car is sleeker now as compared to the previous model. It comes with sharper-looking double-barrel LED projector lights and LED daytime running lamps that are flanked by a slim single slat grille. The front bumper that is chiseled comes with muscular lines and a wide central air dam, and body-colored accents on both the ends. The clamshell bonnet will come with sharp creases that will also run along with the profile of the car, in-line with the sharp design language. The rear of the car is featuring black-accented LED taillamps, an almost similar muscular bumper as well as chrome inserts and there is the Golf lettering on the tailgate right below the logo of VW.

When it comes to the interiors, the cabin comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.25-inch infotainment system display. This will come with an optional 10-inch infotainment screen too. People with Samsung smartphones can easily set them up as the vehicle's key. This will also have functions like you can wave the phone near the door and the car will unlock itself or you can even start the engine of the car by putting your phone on the center console. There is also an optional windshield head-up display on offer right now. VW is integrating on the We-Connect, as well as the We Connect Plus technology into the car. This will help in streaming inte
et radio.

VW said that all the cars will be 'intentionally digitalized' for faster operations. The VW Golf cars will be the first kind of car in its price range that will come with a virtual cockpit. Some other exclusive features of the car include three-zone air conditioning system, Harman Kardon Sound (Harman Kardon is a company that manufactures the home and car audio equipment), as well as the Personalization 2.0 (this feature allows the car to save driver settings which you can easily access in the cloud).

It has been already mentioned that the all-new Volkswagen Golf will get five hybrid power train options. Out of the five, three models will feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that is mated to a TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) petrol engine. The motor will come in three power outputs including- 109 bhp, 129 bhp, and 148 bhp. For the other two plug-in hybrid models, they will come with a 13 kWh battery and they will be tuned to offer 201 bhp and 241 bhp of power outputs respectively. 

There is also a 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder petrol engine that is on offer currently. It comes in two states of tune, one is 89 bhp and another is 109 bhp, along with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder that is also offered in two states of tune - 114 bhp and 148 bhp.

The VW Golf will also come in a diesel option with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine of tune 114 bhp or 148 bhp.
