2025 Jeep Compass Revealed Worldwide: Hybrid, EV Powertrains & Aggressive New Design

The Jeep Compass has been a benchmark in the compact SUV segment for a long time, cut out for its tough looks and off-road performance. As we step into 2025, Jeep has revealed the next-generation Compass, bringing with it major changes in design, technology, and powertrains. Interestingly, this new model will not be launched in India because of cost implications of the STLA Medium platform.

Bold New Look Taken from Grand Cherokee

The 2025 Jeep Compass has a more aggressive and contemporary look, inspired by its big brother, the Grand Cherokee. Some of its key design points are:

  • Illuminated Seven-Slat Grille: A classic Jeep feature, now with illumination for a modern feel.
  • Rectangular Bi-LED Projector Headlamps: Deliver enhanced illumination along with a premium, modern look.
  • Clamshell Bonnet: Contributing to the SUV's bold and aggressive posture.
  • Floating Roof Effect: Due to blacked-out pillars, it adds beautifully to the existing vehicle aesthetic.
  • C-Shaped Tail Lamp LED: And the lighted Jeep Logo in the middle lends a unique rear profile.

The new Compass is 4,548-mm long, which is 150 mm longer than before, whereas the wheelbase has been stretched by 159 mm to 2,795 mm. These upgrades add an extra 55 mm of rear passenger legroom, increasing comfort for longer trips.

Modernized and Roomy Interior

Jeep has made a big step ahead in the field of cabin design and technology. The second-generation Compass features a minimalistic yet upscale interior:

  • Double 10.25-inch Displays: One for the digital instrument cluster and another for the infotainment system, with Uconnect 5 software.
  • Premium Materials: The soft-touch materials, ambient lighting, and chrome detailing all lend a premium feel.
  • Redesigned Central Console: With touch-sensitive HVAC controls, a rotary gear selector, and a new wireless charging pad.
  • More Practical: Better seat comfort and space efficiency mean a better experience for front and rear occupants.
  • Improved Rear Legroom: With more compartment solutions and additional space for rear passengers.

Electrified Powertrain Lineup

The 2025 Jeep Compass, following Stellantis' global EV strategy, will come in many electrified flavours corresponding to different markets.

Main Powertrain Options:

  1. 1.3-litre 48V Mild-Hybrid: Peak power of 145 bhp and 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
  2. 1.5-litre Turbo-Petrol Plug In Hybrid (PHEV): AWD, 270 bhp total output, and around 80 km of electric range.
  3. Fully Electric Variant: While technical specifications are still under wraps, Jeep has confirmed that the Compass EV will feature a front-wheel-drive layout with a flat-floor design for more interior space.

Built on STLA Medium Platform

The all-new Compass marks Jeep’s first use of the Stellantis STLA Medium architecture. This new-age platform accommodates both ICE and BEV powertrains with modular design and enhanced performance.

Platform Highlights:

  • Rides & Handling: Better with increased rigidity and new suspension design.
  • Battery Range (for BEV variant): Expected to provide more than 500 km (WLTP) of range.
  • OTA (Over-the-Air) Updates: All variants will have wireless software updates, which will improve longevity and features.

Sadly, the STLA Medium platform is not being localized in India, and hence the 2025 Jeep Compass will not be introduced in the Indian market. Jeep is expected to continue offering the current-generation Compass in the Indian market for the foreseeable future.

Safety and Technology

The new Compass sets the bar higher for safety and driver-assistance systems. It is equipped with:

  • ADAS Level 2 Features: Features adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition.
  • 360-degree Camera: Improves visibility and safety while parking.
  • Connected Car Technology: Provides navigation in real time, diagnostic capability from a distance, and smartphone connectivity.

With all these boons, the Compass becomes an even more intriguing proposition in markets where safety features and standards are a primary concern. It also boasts improved speed and efficiency across all powertrains.

Trims and World Launch

The 2025 Compass will debut first around Europe, then North America, and finally elsewhere in the world. While particular trim names have yet to be announced, expect listings for the city, for off-road drivers, and for the environmentally conscious.

With mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and full battery electric powertrain options, the Compass seeks to continue as one of the segment leaders in compact SUVs around the world.
