Upcoming car launches in India in December 2020

2020 is nearing its end and it has been a tough year for the auto industry, to put it mildly. However, the last few months and the holiday season have shown us that the auto sector is heading towards recovery. We have already seen several major launches this year such as the next-generation Hyundai i20, Mercedes-Benz EQC electric SUV, Audi Q2 and Kia Sonet, to name a few. However, we are yet to see more upcoming car launches in India before the end of the year.

So, here's the list of the upcoming car launches in India in December 2020:

Nissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite

We have been waiting for the Nissan Magnite since the company unveiled the concept car in July 2020 and therefore tops the list of upcoming car launches in India. The new Magnite will be offered in four major versions: XE, XL, XV and XV Premium, which are rated in 20 different grades, depending on the optional versions, along with engine and transmission options. The SUV will come with two petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit. Transmission tasks will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox for both engines, however, the turbocharged petrol unit also comes with an optional CVT automatic unit.

Nissan has already announced the launch date for India's first compact SUV, and pricing for the new Nissan Magnite will be announced on December 2, 2020. While official pre-orders will start on December 2, select dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi are already accepting informal pre-orders for a value of Rs. 25,000.

Audi S5 Sportback

Audi India announced the arrival of the S5 Sportback last month, at the launch of the new Audi Q2, with a teaser image confirming its launch in November 2020. However, at this point, it appears that the launch has been postponed to December. However, the company recently added the car to its India website, indicating that its launch is imminent. The new Audi S5 Sportback will be the sixth and final launch of the Ingolstadt auto manufacturer in India for 2020.
The upcoming Audi S5 Sportback will also be a petrol model, and it will be powered by a 3.0-litre TFSI engine that delivers 349 hp and 500 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, which propels the coupe from 0 to 100 km / h in approximately 4.5 seconds. The Audi S5 Sportback also comes with a sport suspension, along with the Audi drive select system as standard with four different modes: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual.

Mercedes Benz A-Class Limousine

Upcoming car launches in India in December 2020

It can be said that the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan or limousine is one of the most anticipated luxury cars of 2020. We saw it at Auto Expo 2020 and it was supposed to be launched by Mercedes-Benz India in April but due to the pandemic and the resulting lockdown, The launch has been delayed. However, Martin Schwenk, CEO and MD of the company, confirmed in October that the A-Class will go on sale in India at the end of 2020, so we have crossed our fingers to launch it in December.

The new A-Class sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel options, while the AMG A 35 will likely be launched in 2021. The details of the engine have not yet been announced, but as far as its features are concerned, the car will come with LED headlights, LED taillights, and a system MBUX with Mercedes Me Connect, split console screens and an infotainment system borrowed from cars of the largest carmaker, plus a dual-zone climate control system, memory-equipped seats and more.

At the moment these are the only upcoming car launches in India that we are completely sure of, but we will be adding more cars to this list as more details emerge. Until then, keep looking at this space.
