Ola Electric, a leading name in the electric two-wheeler market, has officially launched its first series of electric motorcycles in India. The new Roadster series introduces three distinct models: the Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro, with prices ranging from ₹75,000 to ₹2.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Launch and Availability: The Roadster series, designed with urban commuting in mind, offers a range of options for electric motorcycle enthusiasts. Online reservations for the Roadster X and Roadster are open now, with deliveries expected to start from January 2025. The top-of-the-line Roadster Pro, however, will see deliveries beginning in late 2025, around Diwali.
Design and Features: The Roadster series draws inspiration from the roadster concept Ola showcased in 2023. All three models feature a sleek, muscular design and a double cradle frame architecture, with a flexible sub-frame for scalability.
- Roadster X: The entry-level Roadster X comes with three battery pack options: 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. It is priced between ₹74,999 and ₹99,999 and includes signature LED headlamps, a 4.3-inch LCD display, telescopic front forks, twin rear shock absorbers, and 18-inch black alloy wheels. The Roadster X offers a claimed range of up to 200 km, a peak power output of 14.7 bhp (11 kW), and can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 124 kmph.
- Roadster: The mid-range Roadster model is available in three variants: 3.5 kWh, 4.5 kWh, and 6 kWh, priced between ₹1.05 lakh and ₹1.40 lakh. It features a more robust and sporty design with LED projector headlamps, a larger 7-inch touchscreen display, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and an aluminum subframe. The Roadster offers a claimed range of 248 km, an output of 17.4 bhp (13 kW), and can achieve 0-40 kmph in 2.2 seconds, with a top speed of 126 kmph.
- Roadster Pro: The flagship Roadster Pro is offered in two battery variants: 8 kWh and 16 kWh, with prices set at ₹2 lakh and ₹2.5 lakh, respectively. It includes premium features such as upside-down (USD) front forks, an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), and a 10-inch touchscreen display. The Roadster Pro boasts a range of up to 579 km on a single charge, accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 1.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 194 kmph. It delivers a maximum power of 70 bhp (52 kW) and 105 Nm of peak torque.
Advanced Features: All three models come equipped with an integrated MCU, enabling advanced features such as Hill Hold, built-in traction control, and ABS modes. They use Ola’s new 4680 battery cells, which offer improved charge times and enhanced battery performance.
Future Plans: Ola Electric has also hinted at future plans, including the introduction of three new electric motorcycle body styles: Supersport, Adventure, and Cruiser. These models are expected to be showcased around Diwali 2024.
