Banglore-based startup Oben Electric has launched its first electric bike starting at Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). Customers interested in getting the car can reserve the electric bike through the official website of Oben electric company with a reservation amount of Rs 999. Deliveries of the new Rorr electric motorcycle are scheduled to begin in June 2022.
The company claims that this electric bike is designed, developed, and manufactured entirely in-house in the country. Oben Rorr will initially be available in nine cities: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Prices vary by state and the prices for each state are listed in the image below.
Oben Rorr: Design
The Oben Rorr electric bike features a design inspired by naked street fighters. It has a round LED headlight with LED DRL and LED indicators, a fuel tank-like muscle panel with a charging port, split seats, LED taillights and 17" alloy wheels. The electric scooter also has a ground clearance of 200mm and a water drain capacity of 230mm, which makes it suitable for Indian roads.
Oben Rorr: Features
Oben electric features a 6.5" digital instrument cluster that includes information such as speed, battery percentage, range, and more. The electric bike also comes with connected technology including geo-fencing, geo-tagging, battery theft protection and a charging station locator.
Oben Rorr: Engine and Battery
The electric bike has a 4.4 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a 10 kW electric motor. It generates 62 Nm of maximum torque and the company claims the bike can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3 seconds and has a top speed of 100 km/h.
The electric bike has 3 riding modes Eco, City and Havoc to optimize performance and range.
Oben electric claims that the electric bike has a range of 200 km on a single charge under ideal conditions, while the battery takes about two hours to charge.
The company also said it has teamed up with several partners to give customers access to more than 12,000 electric chargers in the country. Besides, the company also said that it will also install more than 1,000 Oben charging stations.
Oben Rorr: Warranty and Rivals
Oben offers a standard 3 year / 60,000 km warranty on the Rorr motor and battery. However, customers can also opt for additional 2 years of warranty.
Oben Rorr competes with the Tork Kratos and Revolt RV 400.
