MG Gloster SUV debuts at Auto Expo 2020

After the MG Hector, MG India has surprised us with a full-size SUV similar to the Chinese Maxus D90 SUV that is soon planning to launch in India. The car has been revealed at Auto Expo 2020. It has been named the "MG Gloster."

rn rnrnThe MG Gloster has officially been given the tag of the largest SUV car to wear an MG badge. The car will be positioned as MG India's range-topper in India after the sales open for the car this year. The Gloster is a large SUV that will appeal to the people who are looking for a big sized car.rnrnThe MG Gloster measures 5 m in length and is reported to be longer than the full-size Toyota Land Cruiser 200 or even the Toyota Fortuner that MG might be pitted against. This big and imposing look of the car is similar to the Maxus D90 (Maxus and MG both are under the SAIC) but MG has changed the styling of the car for the Indian market. The grille of the Gloster, the wheels and the chrome highlights have been redesigned for the MG. The SUV that is showcased had an angled version of the standard grille design of the MG along with the chrome, LED DRLs on top of the slim headlights, a large glasshouse as well as the roof rails.rnrnThe rear end of the SUV has a nice and simple design, along with slim tail-lamps and a wide tailgate. The MG Gloster sits on a light truck ladder-frame chassis.rnrnThe Gloster has large dimensions of the exterior that gives it a more spacious and a large cabin and there is a lot of space in all the three rows of the MG Gloster. The car is equipped with all the best quality features that will impress the buyers. The quality level of the Gloster is also better than what is seen in the MG Hector. The quality of the materials is also similar to that with German cars.rnrnThe newest car of MG, the Gloster will be overloaded with the best features. Although the final spec of the Gloster for the country has not been announced as yet the equipment list of the car displayed in the Expo was telling. Some of the features of the MG Gloster include Adaptive LED headlights, LED DRLs, a panoramic sunroof, heated wing mirrors, gesture-controlled tailgate, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic air-conditioning, an 8.0-inch multi-information instrument cluster display, connected car tech and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is also expected that the front seats of the SUV will come with heating, ventilation and the massage functions. MG has also promised that they will also make various personalisation options available as well.rnrnThe Version of the car that is sold across the world includes a 224hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.rnrnFor the Indian version, MG may introduce their own in-house-developed 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel that produces 218hp and a peak torque of 480Nm. This engine had been first revealed at the Guangzhou motor show held in China last year. This engine has been derived from the Multijet II engine by Fiat that the Hector as well.rnrnMG will be assembling the Gloster in India at their plant in Halol, Gujarat, but the local content will be limited to only some components. The Gloster is expected to be priced at Rs 35 lakh. It could be seen as an upgrade to the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour rather than looking at it as direct competition. MG has become a popular brand in the midsize SUV segment with the Hector and the way it is going, the Gloster is also expected to have the same impact in the segment of premium SUVs.rnrnPicture Source: Car DekhornrnAlso Read :  Auto Expo 2020 – Dates, Venue, Ticket Advertisement
