Mercedes-Benz India hints at Mercedes-Benz EQC launch, says ‘just weeks away’

In a slightly surprising tu
of events, Mercedes-Benz India seems to have confirmed that its first electric car in India, the EQC, will arrive here sooner than we thought. The announcement was made during the launch of the Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV, when Martin Schwenk, chief executive officer, and managing director, Mercedes Benz India, said that we are merely weeks away from the EQC electric car's debut here. The Mercedes Benz EQC was originally scheduled to be launched in India in April 2020, but that plan had been pushed back owing to the coronavirus pandemic. While the German automaker hadn't said anything about the launch before this, it was widely believed that the EQC wouldn't be launched here anytime soon considering the current situation in the market. But hey, we are more than happy to see automakers soldier on with their launch plans, especially when it has to do with electric vehicles.

Mercedes Benz EQC is the first fully electric car from the Mercedes stable. EQC was introduced in September 2018 and is also the first production vehicle of the new electric sub-brand Mercedes Benz EQ. Mercedes Benz EQC has a very familiar line end with a large grille and AMG dual-chip design. The silhouette is similar to the traditional car, however, the future design language makes its appearance very attractive.

Mercedes-Benz EQC SPECIFICATIONS & MILEAGE

The battery-electrically powered car comes equipped with two electric motors one for the front axle and one for the rear that generates a cumulative power of 402 bhp along with 765 Nm of peak torque. As for the battery, the Mercedes-Benz EQC gets an 80 kW lithium-ion battery that enables a driving range of 450 - 471 km per full charge with a quick charge option on the SUV too.

The Mercedes-Benz EQC has a very familiar font end with a large grille and a twin slat AMG-esque design. The grille itself is shrouded with a black surround that flows into the LED headlamps. The LED daytime running lights in the headlamp itself are complemented with a LED lighting strip just over the front grille. The rear is very Porsche Cayenne-esque with its twin LED tail lamps joined together with a lighting strip while in profile, the EQC is very sleek, and as we have said already, rather sexy. The EQC gets a similar flap as you get on normal petrol or diesel-powered car, only this time, it is used to plug in the electric charger instead. Mercedes-Benz has given the EQC badging on the front fenders enclosed in a little gloss black panel along with badging on the rear, in this case, reading EQC 400.

The interior on the new Mercedes -Benz EQC is a very familiar one too. The variety of infotainment, entertainment, and devices meets the tastes of the E-Class, while the center console also has a similar feel. Of course, there are some changes, including some design elements that ventilate the vents of an electric motor and new vents.
