Every now and then, even the most sophisticated luxury cars need a quick software tune-up and this time, it’s Lexus taking a proactive step. Lexus India has announced a voluntary recall campaign for select models, including the LM, LX, LS, NX, and RX, to address a potential glitch in the Parking Assist ECU software.
The recall impacts 1,588 vehicles across the brand’s premium lineup and aims to ensure absolute safety and reliability for every Lexus owner.
Why the Recall?
According to the brand’s official statement, the Lexus parking assist update involves reprogramming the system that controls the Panoramic View Monitor (PMV) the 360-degree camera setup that displays the rear-view image while reversing.
The company explained that a software error might cause:
- The rear-view image to freeze momentarily when reverse gear is selected right after ignition, or
- The rear-view image to fail to display the next time the vehicle is started, under specific conditions.
Fortunately, no incidents or customer complaints have been reported in India related to this issue. The Lexus India recall is purely a precautionary measure a reflection of the brand’s focus on maintaining uncompromising standards of safety, sophistication, and customer trust.

This affects a wide spread of Lexus recalled models, ranging from the luxurious flagship LS to the immensely popular LM and RX SUVs each getting the same preventive ECU software correction.
Customer Support and Service Process
For affected owners, Lexus India service has kept things simple. Dedicated Lexus Relationship Managers will reach out to customers individually to schedule the recall update at a convenient time. The software fix will be applied free of charge at Lexus service centres across the country.
The automaker also highlighted that this initiative mirrors a recent recall by Toyota, its parent company, which issued a similar update for the Camry, Vellfire, and Land Cruiser models to correct the same software irregularity.
A Commitment to Safety and Integrity
The Lexus LM recall and Lexus RX recall underscore how modern automotive technology requires consistent fine-tuning and how luxury manufacturers like Lexus handle it with transparency and care. While the issue itself poses no immediate risk, addressing it promptly helps maintain the brand’s reputation for superior reliability and customer-first service.
