Kia Syros Scores 5-Star Rating in Bharat NCAP Safety Tests

Safety is no longer a luxury; it's a priority. The Indian automotive market is shifting rapidly towards safer vehicles, and Kia has stepped up to meet that demand. The newly launched Kia Syros has achieved a remarkable five-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), solidifying its position as one of the safest compact SUVs in the country.

Impressive Safety Scores Across the Board

The Kia Syros has proven its mettle by scoring high in both adult and child safety categories. It secured 30.21 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.42 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP). These results place it on par with other premium vehicles like the Mahindra BE 6 and the Skoda Kylaq.

Highlights of the Safety Rating

  • Five-star rating in both adult and child protection categories

  • 16 autonomous safety features included

  • Equipped with six airbags for all-around protection

Crash Test Breakdown

The Kia Syros underwent a series of rigorous crash tests as per Bharat NCAP standards. These tests include:

  • Offset Deformable Barrier (ODB) Frontal Impact test at 63.95 kmph

  • Mobile Deformable Barrier (MDB) Side Impact test at 50.17 kmph

  • Pole Side Impact test at 29.17 kmph

These assessments confirmed the structural stability of the vehicle and its ability to absorb impact effectively, offering maximum protection to the occupants.

Powertrain Options and Performance

In addition to safety, the Kia Syros comes with a variety of engine and transmission options. It is available in two engine variants:

  • 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque

  • 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque

Transmission options include:

  • Six-speed manual transmission

  • Six-speed automatic transmission

  • Seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT)

The Syros is offered in six different variants, starting at an ex-showroom price of Rs 10.45 lakh.
