Honda 0 Alpha Prototype Revealed Confirmed for India Launch in 2027

At the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, Honda revealed its ambitious new entry for the future of mobility in India—the Honda 0 α (Alpha) Prototype. This next-gen electric SUV represents the gateway to Honda’s all-new 0 Series EV lineup and is set to become the brand’s first locally manufactured electric SUV in India. Its arrival, planned for early 2027, signals an exciting new direction for the brand’s Indian portfolio.

A New Platform and Bold Design Philosophy

Honda alpha

The Honda 0 α rides on a dedicated, born-electric architecture shaped by Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” philosophy. This approach impacts everything from packaging and efficiency to adaptive design and sustainability. The Alpha’s platform brings:

  • Low and wide stance for aerodynamic efficiency
  • Minimalist surfaces and clean, screen-integrated front and rear
  • Illuminated Honda logo and connected DRLs up front
  • U-shaped rear lighting signature and vertical tailgate
  • Wheelbase of 2,750mm—100mm more than the Elevate—ensuring interior spaciousness
  • Aerodynamic 19-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels and wider track for stability

Tech-Forward, Spacious, and Minimalist Cabin

Honda Alpha design

Inside, the Honda 0 α prioritizes space and comfort, showcasing Honda’s “Thin” packaging concept:

  • Flat floor layout for maximum usable cabin space
  • Expected triple-screen digital dashboard for driver, infotainment, and passenger control
  • Advanced connectivity features and next-gen safety technologies (including driver monitoring and possible semi-autonomous capabilities)
  • Glass roof for airy ambience and increased visibility

While final powertrain specifications remain under wraps, industry sources expect two battery options—65kWh and 75kWh LFP packs—engineered for hot Indian conditions. The Alpha is anticipated to be a front-wheel-drive model focused on efficiency, real-world reliability, and competitive range.

Shift in Honda’s India EV Strategy

Rather than reworking the existing Elevate for EV duty, Honda will locally manufacture the Alpha in India as its first 0 Series offering. This model will act as the entry point, while the larger 0 SUV will arrive as a full CBU import, and the flagship 0 Saloon will be exclusive to overseas markets.

Competing directly against forthcoming electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Maruti Suzuki eVitara, the Honda 0 α is likely to be priced in the Rs 25 lakh-30 lakh range (ex-showroom).
