Mahindra has delivered the country's first Alturas G4 SUV BS 6-compliant to the President of India. The car was delivered at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and was received by the Co-Secretary on behalf of the President.
The Alturas G4 delivered to the President features an all-black paint scheme. On the other hand, there is no confirmation of any other custom modifications made on the vehicle.
It can be safely assumed that Mahindra will now start delivering the BS 6 Alturas G4 SUV to regular customers. The thing to note is that the SUV was introduced to the Indian market earlier this year.
Information on the delivery of the Alturas G4 SUV was posted on Twitter and was also shared by Parthasarathy - President, Mobility Services, Mahindra Group.

For the record, the current official vehicle of the President of India is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (S600) Pullman Guard. However, there is no information on where the Alturas G4 SUV will be positioned in the President's fleet. Also, it is unclear whether Mahindra Alturas will be used as an official tool for the president, although the chances are unlikely.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 is based on the SsangYong Rexton SUV. It was introduced to the Indian market again in 2018. It is priced at ₹28.73 lakh for the entry-level 2WD variant, while the high-spec four-wheel-drive variant is priced at ₹31.70 lakh. (Both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi)
It uses a 2.2-liter diesel engine that works along with a 7-speed automatic torque converter which is sourced from Mercedes-Benz. The engine is rated to deliver 178 hp at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of torque at 1,600-2600 rpm.
