Honda Elevate SUV, to debut on June 6, spotted testing in Japan

The latest spotting of the carefully wrapped in camouflaged Honda Elevate SUV has surfaced on social media. It is seen speeding on a highway in Japan, the headquarters of Honda. Some photos of the test mule confirm the presence of all-black alloy wheels and reflectors at the rear of the SUV. However, the wheel size appears to be smaller compared to the overall size of the SUV.

Honda had earlier shared the only official image of the Elevate SUV. The picture from top to bottom shows that the lift comes with a small power sunroof. Roof rails, shark fin antenna and body-color ORVM hardware are other confirmed features. At the rear, the SUV will have an LED strip connecting the taillights and Elevate badging.

The Honda Elevate SUV will likely come with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, the same unit that also powers the next-generation Honda City sedan. Honda will also reportedly offer an Elevate SUV with ADAS features. The automaker's self-developed ADAS technology, dubbed Honda Sensing, was first introduced in India on the new-generation city sedan. Elevate will become one of the few models in its class to offer ADAS technology. Honda can also offer the Elevate hybrid SUV using the same technology used in the City e:HEV.

The Honda Elevate SUV will compete with Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos and others in the compact SUV segment. Models like the MG Hector and the Tata Harrier Red Dark Edition offer ADAS functions to date. It will also include vehicles like the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV if Honda introduces the Elevate with hybrid technology.
