Mercedes Benz production hits 1 lakh units in India

Luxury car maker Mercedes Benz touched a cumulative production of one lakh with an E-class sedan from the Chakan plant near Pune. The German car maker began its journey in India 24 years back and stated that the next production milestone will be achieved sooner considering the growth that the automotive industry has witnessed in the last few years. rnrnIn a statement, the company mentioned that the roll out of 1,00,000th vehicle in the country is a testimony of brand equity and consumer trust that it has enjoyed over the years in the dynamic country. rnrnManaging Director and CEO Roland Folger stated that this achievement also reiterates the commitment of the company and they believe in the India story and its potential. He further stated that they want to continue to fascinate the customers with their products and services and deepen the connection with the country.rnrnThe company rolled out the 50,000th vehicle in 2014 from the assembly line in Chakan. It was the first luxury automotive brand that entered the Indian market in 1994 with W124 E-Class which was rolled out of the assembly plant of Mercedes Benz in Pimpri, Pune. The manufacturing facilities have moved to Chakan in Pune with an investment of more than INR 1,000 crore. It is spread over 100 acres and is a part of the global production network of the company.
