Mini Countryman, the first-ever Crossover SUV was launched in the year 2010. The latest version of the car has now been launched in India at a price of just Rs.34.9 lakh. The new model of the car made its first appearance at the Auto Expo in the earlier part of this year. It is available in the market in three variants- SD(Diesel), S and JCW inspired variants. The basic price of 34.9 lakh is the price of the Cooper variant; the Cooper S JCW is priced at Rs. 41.4 lakh while the Cooper SD will cost around Rs.37.4lakh. As expected from a car of its stature, the new Countryman is equipped with a number of great features that make it worth the price.
What is new about the newly launched Mini Countryman? First of all, it is much bigger in size as compared to the previous model. In fact, it is the biggest of all Mini Countryman cars to have ever been launched in India. Among the other features, the plug-in hybrid deserves mention. Also, a fair amount of package re-shuffling has been done.
There is a four-cylinder petrol engine of two liters producing 189bhp and a peak torque of 280Nm. Each of these engines is accompanied by an 8-speed Steptronic Transmission. It is capable of performing 0-100kmph sprint in 7.5seconds and the maximum speed offered is 225kmph. The diesel variants have 8-speed automatic transmission and can produce 400Nm of torque.
Other prime features to look at are the cosmetic updates such as the LED Headlamps, the revamped bumpers, the daytime running lights, the fog lamps, the skid plates present at the front and back parts, the LED taillights and a dual exhaust pipe. Of course, the signature chrome grill of Mini Countryman is also present. The paint-job with white at the front portion of the car is simply superb. It contrasts with the base colors well and makes the car eye-catchy. Also, the all-wheel-drive system along with the manual transmission ensures that it is easy to drive.
Coming to the interiors, the Cargo Space has been increased by 30 percent of what it was. The length has been increased by 200mm and the breadth by 30mm. The wheelbase has been increased by 75mm. This has made space for leg-rooms and head-rooms at the front and rear parts and a rear seat shoulder-room too, giving it an edge over its competitors.
It will also be featured with the ALL4 AWD system of Mini similar to what is found in the new BMW X1 SUV. The retro-look of the Mini has been retained along with the breathtaking iDrive infotainment system. The Harman Kardon sound system will also be there to accompany these features. You will find the dashboard, dial and the doors to be decorated with floral motifs, thereby giving it a classy look.
Equipped with all these amazing features, the new Mini Countryman is more visually striking than its predecessors and is also a threat to its competitors from other brands that fall under the same price range!
